The 2020 3RF Messier Marathon dates are Thursday through Saturday, March 19-21.

A $50.00 registration fee buys you into the competition, from there, a $10 day site use fee includes your choice of lodging:  Tent site, RV site or Bunk in one of our Bunkhouses.  Private cabins are available for an $100/night and includes 2 full sized beds, private bath and kitchenette, subject to availability.  Optional catered meal plan is $30.00 per day (Friday and Saturday, lunch and dinner only).

 

A Grand Prize trophy will be awarded to the individual with the highest number if points from any two nights. First, Second, and Third Prize medallions will be awarded in the following categories:

 

-- Novice (any instruments)

 

-- GoTo (or DSC-Assisted) telescope

 

-- Non-GoTo (or DSC-Assisted) telescope

 

-- Binoculars

 

To qualify for prize rankings, points must be submitted prior to the Sunday morning deadline on scoring sheets provided by 3RF

 

3RF Main Gate will close at sunset daily. Typical Star Party Dark-out rules are in force. Red lights only during hours of darkness. 

 

3RF equipment is available on a first-come, first-served basis and must be reserved in advance via Jeff Barton.

 

Note: Lasers are prohibited at this event.

 

Gate reopens at dawn daily.

Overnight snack bar -- Midnight to 2 a.m.

 

Registration & Rules packets are handed out upon arrival and at dinner nightly.

 

Thursday, March 19

This is practice and setup night. A group of college students from Baylor may be on campus overnight.

Competition points will be awarded for this night if weather or other circumstances disturb Friday and / or Saturday night.  A Welcome to CSAC and rules discussion will be held during dinner.
