FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Cost — There is no cost to attend any of our public star parties. Fees apply for overnight accommodations, tent or RV sites, and private events.

Overnight Accommodations — Tent camping is $5.00 per person and space is almost unlimited. RV sites are $15.00 per night. There are four bunkhouses at CSAC available for rental during public or private events. Two small bunkhouses sleep 10 people each in 5 sets of bunk beds. Two large bunkhouse sleeps 22 people in 11 sets of bunk beds. No linens are provided. Each bunkhouse is heated and air-conditioned. Six new family-style cabins sleep 4 in two full-size beds.  Cabins include linens, private 3-piece bathrooms, kitchenette with refrigerator, sink, and microwave, small dining table, heating and air conditioning and a cozy front porch for relaxing.

 

Reservations are required for all overnight accommodations. Small bunkhouse, occupancy 10, $100/night; Large bunkhouse, occupancy 22, $150/night.  Cabins, occupancy 4, $150/night, with a discount for 2+ nights.  By reservation only.  A deposit is required for most stays.

 

Private Events — CSAC is available for private rental for $100.00 per day. Reservations must be made in advance and are subject to availability. No private events can be reserved during public star party dates. Access to indoor observing facilities will only be permitted with prior arrangement of staff to be on-premises; additional charges may be incurred.

What to bring for Star Party guests — Closed-toed shoes, weather appropriate clothing (layers are recommended), bug spray, sunscreen, snacks/food/beverages/coolers are welcome, cameras, binoculars, lawn chairs, red light or red flashlight.

 

What to bring for overnight guests — Closed-toed shoes, weather-appropriate clothing (layers are recommended), bug spray, sunscreen, snacks/food/beverages/coolers are welcome, cameras, binoculars, lawn chairs, red flashlight, linens and pillows, towels and toiletries for showers, gas or electric only cook stoves. NO OPEN FIRES.
