StarsTruck is an astronomy outreach program designed by Larry Smith, 3RF Director of Education, to bring world class astronomy instruments to classrooms around Texas. This education module provides “Astronomy Day” for the public, schools and civic organizations. Generally, StarsTruck consist of a lecture on the properties of light followed by solar observing with the use of 3RF telescopes. This format can be modified to fit the needs of your organization. That is right folks! You can look at the Sun and maybe the Moon during the day using the very best astronomy equipment! NOTE: We can provide good viewing within city limits for night time viewing. Views of the Sun, the Moon, and the planets are mostly unaffected by city lights. However, darker skies will allow us to show you more deep sky objects. |
